Some of my bras smell like they have mildew. I usually wash them in the washer with detergent and then hang dry them.
Last week, I tried to soak them in white vingar + water for a few hours before washing them (I found this solution on Y!A). HOWEVER, it didn’t work. The bras smelled like mildew and vinegar.
Any other suggestions???

How old are they? It may just be nature’s sign to throw them out and buy some new ones.
Where are you hanging them? If you’re hanging them in a dark, damp place to dry, then they will be prone to mildew. Once the mildew takes hold, it is next to impossible to remove. You could try one last attempt and wash them in a bit of bleach water, but yes, bleach generally deteriorates the elastic and other material in bras. If the bleach doesn’t work, toss the bras and buy new ones.
When you wash the new ones, be sure to hang them in a room with at least one window. Depending on your area zoning laws, you may want to hang a small clothesline in your backyard. Or you could use a drying rack. Letting items dry outside in the sunshine is a surefire method of preventing mildew.
Wow, I have never heard of that. Where are you hanging them to dry them? I usually hang mine in front of an open window (I have a drying rack so I dangle them from that in front of the open patio door). This doesn’t necessarily help you with your current problem but in the future it is probably best to hang them in a place where there is LOTS of air circulation so that they dry faster, that way they won’t get a chance to mildew.
Have you tried Oxi-Clean? That stuff works wonders. Maybe soak them in the Oxi-Clean for a while first as a pre-treat and then wash them as you normally would with Oxi-Clean in the load along with your regular soap?
edited to add: Putting bras in the dryer can warp them!
Mildew smells is really hard to get rid of without using bleach, and sometimes bleach can break down materials..
Your best bet would be to buy some new bras. If you need to try chlorine safe bleach or soaking them in baking soda/water mix.
Also dont hang them to try tumble dry them on low heat. Becuase you hang them it takes longer to dry and they end up smelling so avoid that!!
Bleach. But this may attack the elastic, and if it does you will have to replace them. Hang drying the things is not helping; a tumble dryer with low heat will do better.
bleach is the only thing to get rid of mould or mildew. Not healthy to have it on your clothing. I researched it on the web, when my child’s car seat had it.
bleach them. Also could be your washer, I would run bleach in a cycle with just water.
Throw them away and buy new ones. Hang them outside to dry or just stick them in the dryer
bleach maybe? if not its time to buy more
